Representing the views of young people at Turn2me’s UX Workshop

While doing my TY work experience at Turn2Me I attended a really insightful and interesting UX workshop. UX stands for User Experience.

The aim of the workshop was to look at the turn2me website from the eyes of someone using it and see what should be improved upon.


There was a group of 6 of us in attendance. Together we created different profiles for the members of the site (Between the ages of 12 and 18) looking at their interests, what prevents them from coming to the turn2me website and what they would hopefully gain from an optimised user experience. The main aim is for the website to be as intuitive as possible so people can get the help they need, when they need it.

We also created profiles for counsellors, parents and administrators/ managers and looked at their interests, what they would gain from an optimised website and what problems they currently experience with the website, among other things.


It was really helpful to brainstorm and try to step into the shoes of the members, counsellors, parents and administrators, because it gave us a chance to focus on the main problems that people face and prioritise the adjustments that needed to be made.

More than anything it was good fun. There was a great team atmosphere and the others were genuinely interested to learn about things like airpods and tik tok

Different perspectives

I found it interesting to see that the adults were excited to learn from younger persons perspective. I was able to fill them in on modern day things that seem obvious to us but they weren’t aware of. This also applied the other way around. It was interesting to see things from the perspectives of counsellors, parents and administrators.
