Turn2Me, a national mental health charity, has announced the launch of two free online support groups designed specifically for students preparing for the Leaving Certificate. The groups will take place on Thursday, 22nd May and Thursday, 29th May at 6pm, and are open to all students facing exam stress in the coming weeks. Students can register for the sessions at Turn2Me.ie.
With exam pressure mounting for tens of thousands of young people across Ireland, Turn2Me is offering a safe, supportive space where students can talk openly about their worries and get guidance from qualified mental health professionals. The sessions will focus on practical tools to manage stress and anxiety, as well as techniques to boost confidence, stay focused, and combat negative self-talk.
“Exam season can be overwhelming for many students,” said Fiona O’Malley, CEO of Turn2Me. “These support groups are designed to equip students with strategies to help them manage their mental wellbeing, stay calm under pressure, and approach their exams with a more balanced mindset.”
The Leaving Cert is often described as one of the most stressful times in a young person’s life. Pressure to perform, fear of failure, and uncertainty about the future can take a significant toll on mental health. The Turn2Me support groups aim to ease that burden and ensure students know they are not alone.
Each session will be facilitated by a fully qualified, accredited psychotherapist and will include practical advice on:
- Managing pre-exam anxiety and performance pressure
- Reducing negative self-talk and self-criticism
- Maintaining motivation and focus in the final days
Turn2Me has seen a growing number of young people using its services in the lead-up to exams, and this initiative is part of the charity’s commitment to supporting students during a crucial time in their lives.
“The Leaving Cert can feel like a mountain to climb, but having the right support and coping tools can make all the difference,” O’Malley said. “We’re encouraging students, and their parents or guardians, to check out Turn2Me.ie and take advantage of the free support we’re offering.”
